Diet
An intentional personal eating and nutrition discipline
aimed at losing excess body fat.
All diets work.
Someone has had successful weight loss with every diet you
have ever heard about, read about, or tried for yourself. If no one else . . .
the author of the book or the diet plan, at least, can truthfully swear by his
strategy.
All diets require that the dieter change something about the
food he eats or the way that he eats. Any time that we disrupt any kind of
pattern or habit in our life . . . changes happen (good or bad).
All diets work
may seem like a ridiculous statement, but for someone . . . somewhere . . . a
diet worked – testimonies were given – before and after photos were made – a book
was written – and a blog and/or website was created!
All diets fail.
Maybe All dieters fail
would be a better statement (but I don’t like the sound of that).
We all have a tendency to break good habits and revert to
former patterns and ways. It is difficult to actually change our lives and the
way that we live.
Most changes that we adopt into our lives are transient and
do not last forever. We snap back easily and often without noticeable effort.
This is not an entirely bad thing, though. Think of how fickle your life would
be if you were affected by everything and everyone that crossed your path.
Meaningful life change . . . personal growth . . . and worthwhile
disciplines are difficult to embrace and to maintain. Character, inner and
outer strength, resolve, commitment, dedication, and will power are all valid
concepts and must not be dismissed or deemed beyond reach.
I may or may not be responsible or at fault for my obesity
(there are so many factors that have been at work in my life for so many years)
. . . but I have decided to take responsibility for my health and weight loss.
I have decided to take charge.
A diet may work . . . or fail . . . but I am determined not
to fail . . . and I know that it will take work . . . for this to work.
It will not come easily or effortlessly. It will not be enjoyable or pleasant, but it
will be rewarding. I love winning, succeeding. That’s what I’m shooting for.
I’m going to make personal, permanent changes in my life . .
. and I am going to spend the rest of my life maintaining and nourishing those
changes in positive and successful ways.
I’m developing a life-health strategy that will carry me to
the end of my life.
I am going to succeed.
